With the New Year, our thoughts turn to losing weight and eating better. Since Halloween, we’ve been eating too much of all those things that are supposedly bad for you. And now it’s time to eat healthy! Kale all the way!
But I get it. It’s difficult to go cold turkey on the junk food. It’s like giving up a good friend. Especially if those friends are… DONUTS! Yes, donuts, natures most perfect food. Many may disagree, but ignore them, you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. But hey, at least you can have their donuts.
For me, those fried circles of dough bring a great deal of joy. There are so many styles to choose from, plain, chocolate, powdered, jelly filled, cream filled, the list goes on and on. (And some specialty doughnut stores create new flavors almost daily.) And some of them are just too pretty to eat.
I’m certainly not condoning gluttony here (though, I’m not actually condemning it either). As the old saying goes, “nothing in excess.” I love donuts, but I do not have them every day, because it is more of a treat when I have them. And if I do over indulge, I’ll just get to the gym an extra day (stop laughing).
And when it comes to clothing, donuts are a perfect design. I personally own a dress shirt and socks decorated with donuts. So why not t-shirts! Not only do the look sweet (get it?), they’re fun to give personality to as well. And you can get lots of wordplay mileage on the word donut itself (and if you donut get this, I donut know what else I can do).
