19 Scream Parody Shirts to Have Fun with Existential Suffering
When you think of the world’s most famous paintings, you usually think of the Mona Lisa or Van Gough’s Starry Night. One of my favorites is one that’s probably in most people’s top ten: Edvard Munch’s The Scream.
Back in college, I was a huge fan of the existentialism movement, and this piece of art felt like it captured the spirit of it. I may have lightened up in recent years, but I still love the literature and art from that time.
Though art is subjective, to me the painting always represented that no matter how you were feeling on the outside, inside you could be screaming in a twisted world. During the teenage angst years that was my constant state, though sometimes the outside matched the inside. Now I reserve those internal screams for family gatherings and listening to that friend go on and on about the subject that’s boring me.
I’m also able to find humor in a work of art ripped from the deepest of despair. But hey, looking back and laughing at your darkest hour means you’ve come a long way. And if you look at it from a certain point of view, The Scream can be funny. It kind of recalls images of Macaulay Culkin.
I’m no not the only one who can see the silliness in the seriousness. There are so many parodies of this painting. And lots can be found as t-shirt images. So here are so,e that may make the people you encounter scream with laughter. Of course we will start with the classic first.
