19 Classic Comic Book Covers T-Shirts (DC Version)
There’s that horrible expression: “I don’t know if it’s art, but I like it.” It’s a response that I don’t think is necessary in the art world, because I believe if you think it’s art, then it’s art. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t mocked what I’ve called bad art, but if somebody thought what I was mocking was like the Mona Lisa, I’d respect that. For the most part.
I prefer the cliche: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” When it comes to the art you choose to decorate your home, apartment or dorm, it has to be the things you think will add life to lifeless walls. Maybe you want a Monet or a Dali. Maybe you want a Star Wars or Game of Thrones Poster. Or maybe you want comic book covers.
As geek culture has become more mainstream, I am happy to say that comic book art is beginning to be seen as art by many people. To have a framed picture of a comic book character in your home is now cool, not infantile. Though not all comics are a work of art, sadly having to get 30 pages in a month is not conducive to creating great art, but every once and a while, you got a Picasso.
There are some comic book covers that are as memorable as The Mona Lisa or The Scream. Action Comics #1, or Detective Comics #27 for example. And those were just the beginning. In the decades that followed, there’ve been some great pieces of art. And like a good museum curator, I collected some shirts that have some of those great images on them.
I don’t know if they’re art, but you’ll like them!
