If I had the ability to visit myself as a pre-teen Marvel comic book reader, I’d be excited to tell myself that in a few decades… uhm, I mean years… I’d be living in the Golden Age of Comic Book movies and TV shows. I’m not sure if I’d believe it, though I’d probably be more interested in my time traveling abilities.

But I digress… The Marvel Cinematic Universe is on fire with 14 mostly successful superhero films in the past 9 years. And it doesn’t look like it’s going to flicker any time soon. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 kicked off the summer. Their now co-produced Spider-Man blew away all expectations. And Thor: Ragnarok is the main event this fall. Buzz about The Avengers: Infinity War and The Black Panther have been great, and most of us are eagerly awaiting those.

Netflix has brought us two great seasons of Daredevil. And on top of that, there were the somewhat unexpected Jessica Jones and Luke Cage series. Iron Fist may not have landed well, but in this world, there is always room for redemption. And this month, The Defenders brings them all together for a more down to earth Avengers-like team. I love it when a plan comes together.

On ABC, Marve’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is still going strong. Agent Carter may not have been one of those shows that those who watched loved, but not enough watched to keep it going. And now they’re evolving with The Inhumans. OK, it looks a little 1990s cheesy from what I’ve seen, but if they don’t blow it too big in the first few episodes, there’ll hopefully be time to mold those shows into shape.

Wow. What an amazing Marvel resume. Takes me back to being that little kid reading all my series and loving the team-ups and special events. I honestly don’t think I would have ever imagined in a million years that so many of those characters would be realized in live action.

So, the celebrate that, let’s look back at the old school Marvel style characters.
