16 Sweet Dragon Shirts for Mothers and Fathers of Fire-Breathing Creatures
When it comes to fantasy creatures, most people are fond of unicorns (often associated with rainbows). But for me, there’s nothing like a ferocious, fire-breathing dragon. Though I’d also accept a cute, cuddly dragon for the days I’m not feeling so fierce.
Dragons have been around since the dawn of literature. Remember Sir Gawain and The Green Knight from Literature 101? Dragons were often the nemesis of King Arthur and those guys who hung around his round table. These terrifying creatures would attack villages, burn them down with their fire breath, and often hoard their gold.
Fantasy literature is another breeding ground for dragons. The most famous of which was Smaug from The Hobbit. Before the mother of dragons, the queen of dragons was Anne McCaffrey with her multiple dragon series like Dragonsong. Even horror/suspense authors like Stephen King and Dean Koontz have their own dragon novel.
We’ve had all kind of dragons on the big screen. From the kid friend, Pete’s Dragon, to the 80s classic Dragonslayer. And more recently, the How to Train Your Dragon series gave a new life to Dragon mythology (as well as Dreamworks).
Which brings us to the most famous dragons of modern times, the dragons from Game of Thrones. Daenerys Targaryen is a beautiful blonde warrior who helped hatch three dragon eggs. She’s known as the mother of dragons, though torn between keeping these creatures as slaves and keeping them free. Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion are more than just creatures on game of thrones, they’re characters.
