When Disney bought the Star Wars franchise, the rumor from the company was that we would have a Star Wars movies every year until most of us were no longer living. Though this seems like a bit of an impossibility, I wouldn’t doubt that Disney has plans that the movies that take place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away will keep going for a long, long time into the future.
I’ve debated whether or not I personally have a need for so many Star Wars movies in other blogs, so I’m not going to debate that here. But the idea that the world of Star Wars will be here for decades (or centuries) to come, does make me happy. Especially when I think of all the future mash-ups that we’ll see.
For those who don’t know what a mash-up is, it’s when characters or objects from one fan base are made to look like characters and situations of another fan base. Yeah, that sounds kind of clinical, but it’s not about words, it’s about images. And there’s something about Star Wars that lends itself to these images more than any other property.
Winnie the Pooh as Chewbacca, or Cookie Monster for that matter. Darth Vader pretending to be Jack Skellington, Jack Skellington pretending to be Luke Skywalker. BB-8 as a Pokemon. These are great images, and look great on t-shirts, of course!
I always say I like mash-ups because you get to show off two things that you like at the same time. And that’s sure to spark some great conversations. So regardless if you like Star Wars AND My Little Pony or Harry Potter or even Miley Cyrus, we’ve got a shirt for you. And probably a chuckle, too. Enjoy!
